15 years of blog writing...anything I've learned?

Well this is fresh. Since the last time I posted here I feel like I've had a new life thrust upon me: marriage, actual work, medical woes aplenty and just life becoming more adjusted and getting the tools and help to become a more well-rounded person.

I read back on my young adult ramblings and honestly they seem pretty pedestrian. What else to expect from a upper-middle class kid who had everything handed to him on a platter.

I've also realized a lot of this stems from my recent ADHD diagnosis, so it's pretty nice to be able to have a mostly intact timeline of seeing how I go from one thing to another.

I'll see if I'll keep writing here, but all in all this little patch of virtual space, my own acre of whatever, seems to be holding up pretty nicely.

More Broken Promises

I honestly think that I always bite more off than I can chew.

I promise that I will make an effort to write into this blog as a way to channel my musings, but that's about it.

In terms of creative writing I will admit that having taken over DMing duties for my current D&D Campaign has helped my creativity achieve interesting results.  What is great about this experience is that in a way the effort is a collaborative one, as my Players are the ones who interact with the world I have created for them, all I can do is react to their actions and tell them how things happened around them.

Maybe I should use this blog to chronicle their adventures.  Perhaps that will help with my writing.  We'll see what happens.

Tuesday

I Live, I Die, I Live Again

Taking a page from the Immortan Joe 'How-To Guide' I have decided to resurrect this blog for my own personal amusement.  It won't contain anything revolutionary, but I like the minimalist approach and randomness of this tiny little real-estate afforded to me to both express and delude myself into thinking that I am some sort of unappreciated genius of my time.

One can hope I guess.

I think I will use this blog to try out my fledgling attempts at writing some coherent novel.  Monk Storm still persists in my head and I want to write this goddamn action story once and for all.  It may contain purple prose, it may be terse, but I need to write down something.

One thing I have learned after watching MMFR is that showing is better than telling.  Hence I have promised myself to stop my verborragic lawyering tendencies and actually follow the Hemingway school of 'shut the fuck up and go kill a bear with your bear hands' way of writing.

Wish me luck.

Wednesday

Hoping for a comeback...

It has been a while since I have posted here.  Maybe I should get off my fat arse and try to come up with something interesting to write here.  Get the infamous creative juices flowing.

Monday

Abandoned But Not Forgotten

I hope to post here soon...

Thursday

It's been a while

I'm not in cryostasis or some weird Fringe Science thing.  I'm just a lazy bastard who's too busy right now.  I'll get back soon.

Wednesday

Month and a Half

So before the start of my Sankt Gallen experience, I will be loafing and enjoying the small things in life: food, books, Revell model kits, pipe-smoking, etc.

Tuesday

The Power Switch

TigerShark - 11 Foot Power Switch :: Volkl Ski Company

unlimited-grizzly
This is the motherfucking king of speedfreaks. It is my mission in life to get something as awesome as this into my skiing arsenal.

Newgrounds.com — Everything, By Everyone

Newgrounds.com — Everything, By Everyone

This is literally the place where one gets a heavy dosage of Internet and Flash fix. Trust me, you wont leave this place very quickly.

Monday

Goddamn Templates!!

I really don't know which one I should stick with.  I hate myself right now.

New Post Editor...and I'm back!

It's been a while since I've written here, but I missed my little patch of virtual space and decided to cultivate it a little bit further, now with blogger's improved post editor.  Well so much for product placement.

Friday

The Start of a New Semester

This time around I am not taking any notebooks or pens. It's a waste of paper, but I do have to take coursework and whatnot. The rest is being kept on my trusty laptop. Oh and installing Windows 7 is a bitch!!

Tuesday

Prolonged Abscence

Exams ended in December, but I've been having a blast in my holidays thus the need to post on this blog has decreased.

Nevertheless I do miss the interwebs and its whacky coolness.

Laters!

Saturday

Dragon Age Anonymous

They're going to have to create it just for us RPG addicts to go to.

Thursday

In Through The Gate

Well for the last couple of weeks I've been hooked on one particular TV series and universe. The Stargate Universe. For me, the biggest Sci-Fi geek amongst my friends, it is truly cool and immensely satisfying to watch. The characters are cool and deep, the plots and devices absolutely ludicrous, and the technological gadgetry is absolutely out of this world!

OK, enough fanboyism; bottom line is I'm hooked.

New cast. RDA is not on there.

Monthly Updates

Well, it's been almost a month since I last posted; given that no one actually reads this blog I'll just keep on ranting my usual tirade of bland and mundane topics. Here be no dragons, no opinionated bigotry articles, here be a simple citizen of the world using his little patch of cyberspace to grow a sweet little garden of personal delights.

So far this month has been nothing but mundane. The only cool things have been my best friend's permanence in the country, my rugby club ascending to the top flight of Argentine rugby, and my girlfriend getting top score on her master's thesis.

On my gaming side, I'm itching to try out two games: "The Force Unleashed" and "Dragon Age: Origins".

Another rediscovered delight was finding and replugging my old Nintendo 64, now part of my complex desk/work/entertainment station. I'll be rediscovering my preteen gaming love over the next couple of weeks before I fly off to Europe and cold winter.

Thankfully the N64 game case I bought a couple of years ago (actually 10 years ago!!!) is now a godsend! Now I plan on rediscovering Link's two massive adventures, relive the excitement of being 007 or just frolic around with any of the Mario titles.

Tuesday

Cinematic Gaming

Yep, now with Dead Space as my new gaming acquisition I will immerse myself in the odd and strange world of sci-fi horror. Event Horizon, Aliens and other films give us the overall hierarchic idea behind this.

On an interesting note, the main character is a systems engineer. I find this very amusing because lately there has been a shift from action-star heroes to book-smart everyday joes. I like that.
